Chromatic Furnace — Völklingen Ironworks
Inside the old sinter plant at Völklingen Ironworks, a woven tapestry sculpture floods a cathedral of rusted steel with unexpected color — magentas and teals draped through industrial ruin. It's a strange, wonderful collision of decay and vibrancy, and it cuts like nothing else in our shop. The color-saturated fabric breaks into small, tightly organic pieces that follow every fold, while the surrounding ironwork calls for longer, angular shapes tracing girders and shadow. Expect a real workout: this is one of our busier cuts, with whimsies hidden in the rust streaks and a few genuinely tricky passages where steel beams cross at odd angles. Color-line cutting keeps the boundary between fabric and factory crisp, so even the trickiest sections stay solvable. A puzzle for people who want their coffee-table centerpiece to also be a genuine challenge.
